Referee was hospitalized after having “difficulty breathing” in the Boise State-Hawaii game

A scary twist took place in the second quarter HawaiiBoise State game on Saturday night when an official had trouble breathing. He collapsed on the field and was attended to by medical staff during the game. The game was stopped for more than 15 minutes.

The game's back referee was surrounded by several medical staff and an ambulance was brought onto the field. The CBS Sports Network broadcast unfortunately didn't have the luxury of a sideline reporter, so it was still trying to find out more details about the incident.

They tried to put him on a stretcher, but the officer got up, walked to the ambulance and sat in the back. He will be taken to a local hospital for observation, according to the CBS Sports Network broadcast. The game between Hawaii and Boise State will now continue with one less referee because there are no other replacements on site.

It was a pretty wild game between Boise State and Hawaii, with players from both teams being sent off for shots on goal in the first half.

Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty continues to shine

Boise State Heisman Trophy candidate Ashton Jeanty had over 100 rushing yards in the first half, but Hawaii forced him to earn every bit of his yards. At halftime, Boise State's sideline coaches said Saturday night's run defense was the best they'd seen all year.

Jeanty did have a 54-yard touchdown run, but the Hawaiian defense did a pretty good job of keeping him at bay. With less than 10 minutes left in the third quarter, Boise State only led Hawaii 13-7. The Broncos took an early 13-0 lead, but the Warriors managed to hang on and make things interesting for their home fans.

The Broncos managed to pull away later in the game and get a win, setting up a big matchup against UNLV within a few weeks. Ashton Jeanty once again proved that he is one of America's most unstoppable players, hauling in 31 carries for 217 rushing yards and a touchdown. In one of The latest Heisman Trophy polls from On3–Jeanty was number 1 on this list. It will be exciting to see if he can travel to New York at the end of the season and hoist the coveted hardware.
