QB says he would “love” to play in the Lions’ offense

When Lions tight end Sam LaPorta scored a 52-yard touchdown in Detroit's 47-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, legendary quarterback and current FOX commentator Tom Brady described the game in one word.

“Unreal,” Brady said of the call, which was a double-reverse flea-flicker in which Jared Goff took the snap and threw the ball to David Montgomery, who then passed it to Amon-Ra St. Brown passed it back to Goff, who then hit LaPorta on the sideline for the equalizer.

“Come on. If you don’t enjoy watching it, you don’t have a heartbeat,” Brady said. “Throw it to Montgomery, back to St. Brown, back to Goff. Too much to handle and LaPorta makes a great catch. A + throw from Goff. That creativity is why all of these guys love being a part of this offense. They play power. Football, they have play action, then it is very difficult to defend them.

Brady, who spent 23 seasons in the NFL and had more Super Bowl victories (7) than any other player or team in league history, raved about Detroit's offense. He was impressed by offensive coordinator Ben Johnson's unconventional play-calling.

“I would love to be the quarterback in this offense,” Brady added. “It's just so much fun. There is also a large selection here. In the years I had a lot of selection, we had explosive offenses (and) we were creative with our play calls. When I look at this offense, it reminds me of what a great offense the NFL should be.

“This is a great plan. They often line up under center, a lot of it being play-action passing. A lot of it is deception. It really slows down the defense and you can see the benefits of that.”

Brady has the most passing yards (89,214) and passing TDs (649) ever.
