PSG 1-1 PSV: The hosts denied a late penalty in a thrilling draw

Paris St-Germain wasted a host of great chances and saw a last-minute penalty overturned by the referee as they were held to a disappointing draw against PSV Eindhoven.

The home side, who had probably not had much of a goal threat since the departure of superstar Kylian Mbappé in the summer, had to worry about two players left out by winger Ousmane Dembele as they only got four points from the first three games.

Referee Glenn Nyberg pointed to the spot as Olivier Boscagli slid in on Marco Asensio – but the referee was sent to check the replays which showed the defender had the ball and changed his decision to a corner.

PSG have scored just two goals in their three Champions League games this season and needed a helping hand to equalize against the Dutch champions.

Noa Lang finished the game brilliantly and gave PSV the lead against the run of play. Joao Neves left the ball cheaply in midfield and the winger took full advantage by firing in at the near post.

Dembele hit the crossbar from six meters away and wasted another great chance over the goal at this point, with top scorer Bradley Barcola also going close from a tight angle.

The strikers were saved after the break when right-back Achraf Hakimi fired a evasive shot from 25 meters that goalkeeper Walter Benitez let fly between his legs and into the goal.

Hakimi fired another great shot wide as PSG had 26 shots on target, but they were unable to score a winner – Mauro Junior almost scored the winner for the visitors at the end when he ran wide.
