Predicted Inter Miami vs. New England Revolution lineup: MLS

Inter Miami takes the field for the first time in two weeks to face the New England Revolution on the final day of the MLS regular season.

Unlike fellow Eastern Conference teams DC United, Atlanta United, CF Montréal and Philadelphia Union, all of whom are fighting for the final two MLS Cup playoff spots, Miami has already secured its spot in the postseason. The Herons also have home advantage in the playoffs, having secured the Supporters' Shield title and boasting the best record in MLS.

However, Miami still has a lot to play for on MLS Decision Day on Saturday afternoon. The South Florida team has 71 points and can break New England's single-season points record with a home win. The Revs set the current record of 73 points in 2021 under former head coach Bruce Arena.

Although the legendary Lionel Messi played the entire 90 minutes against Bolivia, in which he scored a hat trick and added two assists, Miami coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino could still look to use the 37-year-old from the start to help Miami to write history. It's worth noting that Miami won't play again until the following weekend, when their first-round opponents are announced after the Wild Card games.

With Miami playing at home, it would make sense for Martino to choose a 4-3-3 system to play up front from the first minute.

GK: Drake Callender– The USMNT reserve shot-stopper gets the nod between the posts as he looks to keep his sixth clean sheet of the season against the lowest-scoring team in MLS.

RB: Marcelo Weigandt– The attacking full-back maintains his place in Martino's team and aims to advance up the pitch in the wide areas to cause problems for the Revs' defense.

CB: Tomas Aviles– The young defender will continue his strong recent form and the playoffs are just around the corner. While he carries a rash challenge, he is vital to Miami's lineup.

CB: Sergio Busquets– Busquets continues his string of games at the heart of the defense and plays a key role in the Herons build-up.

LB: Jordi Alba—Alba was one of Miami's best players of the season. The 35-year-old can connect with any of his teammates in the final third before sending a dangerous cross into an opposing team's penalty area.

CM: Julian Gressel– The former Columbus Crew player once again takes on the deeper midfielder role and looks to take control from the middle of the park.

CM: Yannick Bright– Bright remains one of Miami’s most underrated players in his first season in MLS. Don't be surprised if Martino leans on him in the postseason.

CM: Federico Redondo—The 21-year-old has slowly improved over the course of the season and is hoping to give his best in the coming weeks. While he may not be the best on the ball at times, it is his work off the ball and his positioning that make him valuable to the Miami team.

RW: Lionel Messi– The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner comes from the jump to Miami looking to complete an incredible regular season and make history with the Herons.

ST: Luis Suarez—El Pistolero wants to end the regular season on a high note and lead Miami to victory.

Left: Diego Gomez—Gómez's relentless pressing is key, as Messi and Suárez don't press as often to protect their legs. The Paraguay international is also capable of hitting the target when his number is called.
