Bayern Munich were in a self-destructive mood as a defensively chaotic performance saw them beat Barcelona 4-1 in the Champions League. Manuel Neuer, Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae all looked disastrous as Brazilian winger Raphinha tore them to shreds, while Robert Lewandowski returned to haunt his former team with one of his own on a humiliating night for the German giants.

It didn't take long for the horror to begin as Bayern fell a goal behind in the first minute when Joshua Kimmich's failed attempt to block a pass only saw it bounce in front of Raphinha, who made no mistake as it it was about beating Neuer.

The visitors responded well to the surprise, winning the game and managing to put the ball in the net in the 10th minute when Harry Kane headed past Inaki Pena from a cross from Thomas Müller, but it was quickly ruled out for offside. Just seven minutes later, Kane was on the receiving end of another cross – this time from Serge Gnabry on the left – and stuck his right foot up to score the equaliser.

Bayern appeared to be the better team, but it was another disaster from the German team that sparked the next goal as Kim failed to clear the ball and only deflected the ball into the path of Fermin Lopez. The onrushing Neuer made a feeble attempt to stop him and the ball was worked to Lewandowski, who scored a simple finish against his old team.

The visitors barely had time to fight back before they were once again behind when Marc Casado's spectacular cross pass saw Raphinha beat Raphael Guerreiro, shoot it through Upamecano's legs and curl in.

Just 10 minutes into the second half, Raphinha scored his hat-trick when he delivered another excellent pass, leaving Kim and Upamecano in the dust before expertly striking into the bottom corner.

Vincent Kompany made four changes immediately after that goal, but the damage was already done as they suffered a second Champions League defeat this season.
