Pistons four-player practice squad options

Detroit — The Detroit Pistons exercised fourth-year team options for Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren on Monday afternoon while also picking up third-year team options for Ausar Thompson and Marcus Sasser.

The Pistons selected Ivey with the No. 5 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. Over two seasons, Ivey has averaged 15.8 points, 4.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds in 151 games. In his first season, Ivey earned All-Rookie Second Team honors after averaging a career-best 16.3 points in 74 games.

Duren was a first-round pick by the Charlotte Hornets in the 2022 NBA Draft. His draft rights were traded twice before landing in Detroit. The Pistons sent a conditional 2025 first-round pick to the New York Knicks in exchange for Memphis prospect and former All-Star guard Kemba Walker. Since then, Duren has established himself as the Pistons' future standout, averaging 11.4 points and 10.2 rebounds in 128 games.

The following year, the Pistons walked away with two first-round picks after the 2024 NBA Draft. With their first selection at pick No. 5, the Pistons selected Ausar Thompson from OverTime Elite. Before a blood clot ended his rookie season early, Thompson averaged 8.8 points and 6.4 rebounds in 63 games. As the 2024-25 season begins, the Pistons are still awaiting a ruling from the league and players' association regarding Thompson's return.

Sasser came to the Pistons with the No. 25 pick in the draft from the Memphis Grizzlies. The former AAC Player of the Year winner (2023) from the University of Houston averaged 8.3 points and 3.3 assists in 71 games last season.
