    Phoenix's record-breaking fall heat is coming to an end as temperatures are expected to drop

    The seemingly endless summer is finally giving way to fall, and the weather forecast for next week calls for temperatures below 100 degrees.

    Monday's record high of 103 degrees marked the last triple-digit day of the month.

    Phoenix experienced 21 consecutive days of scorching temperatures above 100 degrees, breaking all records. However, the series was expected to end on Tuesday with a predicted high of 96 degrees. The cooling trend continued on Wednesday and Thursday with highs of 97 and 93 degrees, respectively.

    The weekend should bring even more relief, as much cooler high temperatures of just 82 degrees are expected Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

    There was a 40% chance of rain Friday, according to Mark O'Malley, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

    Earlier this month, Phoenix recorded record highs of 113 degrees on both October 1 and October 6, with daytime temperatures fluctuating no more than 10 degrees. September followed a similar pattern, reaching a scorching 117 degrees on September 28th, with most days staying near 100 degrees. Only on six days in September did highs drop to the 90s.

    The last days of October should bring highs in the 70s just in time for Halloween.
