People's tickets are disappearing from their Ticketmaster accounts

Even if fans manage to snag tickets on Ticketmaster against all odds, there's no guarantee they'll keep them. NBC's Bay Area station reported that fans across the country, after purchasing tickets to shows, saw the tickets disappear from their accounts.

A San Francisco resident told the outlet that after purchasing tickets to Taylor Swift and Imagine Dragons, he received an email saying they had been debited from his account without his knowledge. The man who spent “thousands” on the tickets said after he contacted Ticketmaster the website told him “there's nothing we can do”.

People in Philadelphia, New York and San Diego told the outlet they had similar experiences with missing tickets and unhelpful customer service agents. However, when the outlet contacted the website, the tickets were miraculously returned to their legitimate account.

The questionable situation comes months after Ticketmaster suffered a data breach. The site said the passwords were not compromised in the breach, but still recommended users change their login details if they noticed the tickets had disappeared.

“Overall, our digital ticketing innovations have significantly reduced fraud compared to the days of paper tickets and duplicate PDFs,” said a Ticketmaster representative People. “Thanks to this digital history, we are also able to investigate the situation and, in almost every case, restore fans’ tickets.”

“Scammers are looking for new scammers in every industry, and tickets will always be a target because they are valuable,” the representative continued, “That’s why Ticketmaster is continually investing in new security enhancements to keep fans safe.”
