Penn State's James Franklin engages in a tense exchange with fans after the crushing loss to Ohio State

It's safe to say that James Franklin is currently public enemy #1 in Happy Valley.

The third-seeded Penn State Nittany Lions pulled off a heartbreaker at Beaver Stadium on Saturday, losing 20-13 to No. 4 seed Ohio State.

With the loss, Franklin fell to 1-7 against top-10 teams at home, 6-10 against ranked teams at home, 1-9 against top-5 teams and 1-10 against Ohio State since being hired at Penn State .

Certainly Penn State fans are waiting to see when they get over that hurdle. While the loss likely won't hurt the Nittany Lions' chances in the College Football Playoff, it still begs the question of whether they're ready for this stage.

Apparently a fan of the game wanted to find out for himself.

As Franklin left the field after the game, he shook hands and hugged several people before heading to the tunnel, but he must have heard something in the stands.

Two fans made fun of Franklin, one said, “That's terrible.” Another fan's words are difficult to understand, but Franklin took issue with them.

Franklin walked up to the fan, who was visibly angry, and asked what his name was. At this point, the fan no longer wanted to participate in the chat and Franklin left a farewell message.

“If you want to be man enough to talk, what's your name?” Franklin asked again.

Franklin then walked down the tunnel to applause from other Penn State fans.

Penn State jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead but didn't score an offensive touchdown all day. The only touchdown was a pick-six when the defense first took the field.

Penn State had a golden opportunity to tie the game when it scored first from inside the 5-yard line with five minutes left in the fourth quarter.

But the Buckeyes' defense stopped the Penn State offense four times from the 5-yard line to keep them out of the end zone, securing a 20-13 victory.
