Paris Masters: Briton Jack Draper beats Jiri Lehecka and reaches the second round

British number one Jack Draper made it into the second round of the Paris Masters with a straight sets victory over Czech Jiri Lehecka.

Draper, who won the biggest title of his career in Vienna on Sunday, won 7-5, 6-2 in one hour and eight minutes.

After a close first set, it was all down to serve before Draper managed the decisive break in the 11th game.

The Brit dominated the second set, clinching five games in a row to secure victory.

On Wednesday he will face fifth-seeded American Taylor Fritz in the second round.

The 22-year-old left-hander, who reached his first Grand Slam semifinal at the US Open last month, rose to 15th in the world rankings on Monday, the highest of his career.

The Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz moved into the third round after a 7:5 6:1 victory over the Chilean Nicolas Jarry.

The runner-up, who received a bye in the first round, will face Frenchman Ugo Humbert or American Marcos Giron in the round of 16.

Australia's Alex de Minaur boosted his chances of qualifying for the season-ending ATP Finals with a 7-5, 6-1 first-round victory over Mariano Navone of Argentina.

De Minaur will replace Andrey Rublev in the final qualifying position and reach the quarter-finals in Paris. He will next face Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic.

The number six seeded Russian Rublev, who also received a bye in the first round, is out after a 7:6 (8:6), 7:6 (7:5) defeat against the Argentine Francisco Cerundolo.
