As the title suggests, NCIS: Origins serves as a prequel to the original 1991 military police procedural series. just over a decade before the events of NCIS Season 1. NCIS: Origins is the sixth part and the fifth official spin-off of the series NCIS franchise that follows in the footsteps of NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, NCIS: Hawaii, And NCIS: Sydney. However, it is the first prequel.
