Ram's second drive

Colorado State wasted no time in making McCoy and the Beavers pay for their early mistake. On first-and-10 from the 12-yard line, Justin Marshall took a handoff and raced left, sprinting untouched for a 12-yard touchdown run. The Rams strike first and take an early 7-0 lead.

Beavers open the way

Gevani McCoy chose a bad time to throw his first interception of the season. McCoy hit Jermaine Terry II in the hands with a short pass over the middle, but CSU linebacker Chase Wilson hit Terry the moment he touched the ball and he shot into the air. Gabe Kirschke selected it for a pick. The Beavers' opening attack was sloppy and included two penalties and McCoy's pick. Difficult start for the Beavers.

Rams' opening drive

Colorado State gained a first down and seemed to gain some momentum early against the OSU defense. But the Rams were derailed by back-to-back video reviews — which nullified first-down plays — and were forced to punt. The second review negated an 8-yard first down run and set up a 4th-and-5 at Colorado State's 46-yard line.

The Beavers won the toss and elected to wait for the second half. So the Rams get the opening kickoff.
