Oregon beats Michigan to go 9-0

The Oregon Ducks traveled to Ann Arbor this weekend to take on the defending champion Michigan Wolverines and earned a relatively easy 38-17 victory.

First quarter

Oregon's first drive took 12 plays but resulted in a spectacular touchdown catch on the goal line by the receiver Evan Stewart on a fade to the corner of the end zone.

After a fumbled punt return by the Ducks receiver Ryan PellumMichigan took advantage of a rolling touchdown pass from the quarterback in the red zone Davis Warren.

Second quarter

Another smooth Ducks drive was capped off by a one-yard touchdown run Noah Whittington After extensive review, the score was 14-7 for Oregon. Later in the quarter, a deep ball from the quarterback Dillon Gabriel to the recipient Traeshon Holden set up a six-yard touchdown run by Whittington, putting the Ducks up 21-7.

An explosive pass from Warren to Colston Loveland put the Wolverines in position for a field goal with 1:51 left in the half, increasing the score to 21-10. After a two-minute drill possession, Oregon quickly went offside, leading to a 23-yard scramble touchdown by Gabriel that made it 28-10 Ducks at halftime.

Third quarter

Another great performance from Loveland helped Michigan convert a possession in the red zone in the passing game, cutting the Ducks' lead to 28-17 and marking another slow start to the second half. The Ducks got the ball back and went on a methodical drive, mostly running the ball into plus territory where the kicker was Atticus Sappington scored a short field goal to give Oregon a 31-17 lead late in the quarter.

Fourth quarter

A largely uneventful fourth quarter ended with a two-yard touchdown run for the running back Jordan James This ended the game 38:17. Oregon has once again taken care of business on the road and is 9-0 on the year.
