November 2024 Local Election Guide: Referendum breakdowns, judicial guide, voting resources and more

The (early) surveys are open and we are here to help.

Early voting begins today (Monday, October 21) and this edition of The Record's Local Election Guide is a tool to provide you with information for your voting experience. Below are details about when, how and where you can vote, as well as how and where you can register. Would you like to help in the elections? You can also find this information.

As a local newsroom, we won't break down the national, state or regional races, but we will this week The record will post previews of several referendums available to residents in our service area. Further information can be found below.

The record will publish a separate election guide for the April 2025 local elections.

Vote by mail (Cook County | Lake County)
> Request mail-in ballots online or in person by October 31st. You will need to provide your driver's license, the last four of your Social Security number, your mailing address, and your email address. Completed mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and received within 14 days of Election Day.
