Nobody wants this to be renewed for season 2

The first season of Nobody wants that ended with Rabbi Noah (Adam Brody) and podcaster Joanne sharing a romantic kiss in a parking lot after leaving a bat mitzvah. You know, classic rom-com stuff. While there are still many obstacles in the way of their love, Netflix has renewed the Erin Foster-created series for a second season – leaving plenty of time to explore these obstacles.

“Create Nobody wants that will always be a career highlight for me,” Foster told Netflix. “The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives have made this the show it is today and seeing the audience reaction to this series now that it is out in the world has been more than anything I could have imagined can dream.”

Jenni Konner (Girl) and Bruce Eric Kaplan (Girl, Not a good deed, Six feet under) and Nora Silver (Deli Boys, Welcome to Chippendales, single drunk woman) is on board as an executive producer.

“I'm so happy to be able to continue this story,” said Foster, “alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I've been such a fan of ever since.” Girl. …Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!”

In Season 1, the lovebirds quickly fell in love, but the fact that Joanne isn't Jewish was a major complication for a rabbi. While Joanne considered converting, she admitted she wasn't quite ready to commit to the process. It seemed like the two would have to go their separate ways, but Noah's grand gesture in the parking lot showed he wasn't ready to give up on their love – and neither was she.

Brody tells Tudum that he interpreted the ending as Noah promising Joanne, “I put you first. Everything else will work itself out, but I say you are my priority.”

Of course, “everything else” is like that too a lot. The cultural differences between the two are great and Joanne is not necessarily loved by Noah's close-knit family. “Will he still think like that in daylight? “I don’t know,” Brody adds. “That’s an open question.”

Luckily, Season 2 can address this tension as the duo decide to commit – or not.

“I think that’s what the show can explore,” Brody says. “What should he do? What should she do? What kind of sacrifice is worth it? What constitutes growth, or what does it mean to darken yourself to be with someone else? It’s a sacrifice, but ideally you grow together and are better off – you don’t have to cut off a limb.”

New showrunners Konner and Kaplan described her new gig as a “dream” and Konner added, “Erin is the rare creator with a crystal clear voice and a truly collaborative spirit.” I'm a real fan of Erin's show and feel so lucky too , being in the same room again with two of my favorites, Bruce Kaplan and Sarah Heyward Girl.”

“I am incredibly excited to be part of the second season of Nobody wants that, created by the hilarious Erin Foster,” Kaplan told Netlfix. “It’s such a unique and beautiful show and I’m already having the best time working on it.”
