    LOS ANGELES – The National League Championship Series returns to Los Angeles for Game 6 between the New York Mets and the Dodgers.

    New York's offense reached new heights early in the season with a 12-6 loss in Game 5, sending the series back to the West Coast. Now the Mets will try to force a winner in Game 7, while the Dodgers will try to secure their spot in the World Series for the fourth time in eight seasons.

    For the Mets, Sean Manaea (12-6, 3.47 ERA) gets the win on Sunday and hopes to extend the streak. The 32-year-old left-hander has been dominant this postseason, shutting out Los Angeles with a Game 2 win last week. In the meantime, the Dodgers will play another bullpen game, this time hoping it produces different results than his use in Game 2.

    One side of the World Series is already occupied by the New York Yankees, representing the American League. Now the Bronx Bombers wait to see whether they travel to Los Angeles for Game 1 of the Fall Classic on Friday or whether they host the World Series opener in a postseason Subway Series.

    Tommy Edman's two-run double gives the Dodgers a 2-1 lead

    After the Mets scored in the first, the Dodgers came right back and took a 2-1 lead after Tommy Edman struck out Sean Manaea for two runs. It is the first main character of the series.

    LOS ANGELES – New York is on the field in the first inning, reaching Dodgers pitcher Michael Kopech.

    After Francisco Lindor completed four pitches, a wild throw advanced him to second and a groundout by Brandon Nimmo moved him to third. With two outs, Pete Alonso hit an infield flare and second baseman Chris Taylor couldn't get an accurate throw to first, allowing Lindor to score and make it 1-0. Taylor was charged with a game foul.

    Ryan Brasier had started the Dodgers' first two bullpen games of the postseason, but Dave Roberts will start Game 6 with Michael Kopech. Kopech has been arguably the Dodgers' best reliever since being traded from the White Sox at the trade deadline and has yet to give up a run in the 2024 postseason.

    “I think we all just felt like it was part of a lineup that we like Michael,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said before the game. “He’s started in games before. And he just feels like his best chance is to get a zero in the first inning and then advance.”

    “Ultimately he just felt like it was best for him to give him another day,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told Sunay before the game. “He might be late to the offense, but the defense — he took batting practice yesterday. Felt good. But just doesn't feel like himself. So we just felt like maybe another day would help.”
