In a career full of careers, Nicole Kidman is once again experiencing a hot streak.

The Oscar winner won best actress at the Venice Film Festival last month for her critically acclaimed role in Halina Reijn's Steamy. She will next star in the second season of Taylor Sheridan's Paramount+ series lionesswhich premieres on Sunday, and she's about to jump in front of the cameras at Amazon Studios. So how does Kidman feel about all the good work right now? It's complicated. “I wish my mom was here,” she said The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday evening while walking the red carpet at the Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood. “That would be the only thing I would say. Everything is going great at work, but I wish my mom was here.”

Kidman's eyes filled with tears as she shared how bittersweet it is to live through this moment in her career and not have the chance to do so alongside her mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, who passed away last month. It was Reijn who broke the news while accepting the Kidman's Volpi Cup for Best Actress. “I am in shock and need to get to my family, but this award is for them,” Kidman wrote of Reijn. “I am beyond grateful to be able to tell you all her name. The collision of life and art is heartbreaking and my heart is broken.”

It stays that way. “It was hard,” Kidman explained THR on Wednesday. “It's a hard road. I’m holding on.”

On a lighter note, Kidman was eager to talk about working with Sheridan on the latest season of his Paramount+ series, in which she is cast as Kaitlyn Meade, a high-ranking CIA officer. “We're talking about a powerhouse,” she said of Sheridan, who juggles a huge slate of TV shows from the year Yellowstone universe and beyond. “He does everything and writes projects that are so good – he never stops. He brings so much work to all of us and the industry and it's incredible. It’s fantastic.”

More good news for Kidman: It was announced this week that she was selected for this year's prestigious Sherry Lansing Leadership Award The Hollywood Reporter The annual Women in Entertainment Breakfast Gala takes place on December 4th in Los Angeles. The actress, producer and philanthropist explained that she has a long history not only with Lansing, but also with Paramount.

“I’m very, very happy to be able to do this,” Kidman said last night as he accepted the honor. “Sherry Lansing and I go back so far that it allows me to shine a light on other women, not myself. That's what I want to talk about (at the event). I’m very happy that I got the chance.”
