NFL penalizes Williams and Lenoir for actions in 49ers-Chiefs game

NFL fines Williams and Lenoir for actions in 49ers-Chiefs game originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

Matchups between the 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs always produce high-intensity moments, and Week 7 last Sunday at Levi's Stadium was no different.

Two separate incidents resulted in fines for four players: 49ers left tackle Trent Williams ($11,817 fine), 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir ($11,817), Chiefs safety Bryan Cook ($8,442.64) and Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore ($9,356.83 $).

The Super Bowl LVIII rematch featured plenty of drama, including a scuffle between Williams and Cook at the end of the game. After Cook hit Williams in the side of the helmet while the lineman was on the ground, Williams got up and hit Cook in the back of the helmet and was then ejected from San Francisco's final 28-18 loss.

Even though Cook hit Williams first, the NFL gave him a lesser penalty than the 49ers star.

Like Williams, Lenoir was also fined for unnecessary rudeness following an on-field scuffle involving Moore. Moore was also fined less than Lenoir.

Both incidents came after San Francisco's fifth straight loss to Kansas City was decided, and frustrations were clearly simmering. The 49ers will look to turn things around in Week 8 against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday at Levi's Stadium.
