New report reveals Clippers' Kawhi Leonard injury recovery timeline

The Los Angeles Clippers expect Kawhi Leonard to miss weeks at the start of the season, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Wednesday ahead of the team's season opener.

He is still dealing with inflammation in his right knee that kept him out of Team USA's roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“I was told Kawhi Leonard will miss weeks,” Charania said on ESPN. “This is not an injury that you're going to measure in a week, maybe two weeks, not days. That will be an extended period of time that the Clippers will have to start this season without him.”

The Clippers apparently have a plan in place to help Leonard return to the court when he's ready and to ensure he doesn't end up on the injury report.

It's unclear as of Wednesday when the Clippers expect Leonard to make his debut in the 2024-25 season.

Leonard has also struggled with injuries over the last three seasons. He missed four of the Clippers' six playoff appearances last year due to inflammation in his right knee. He played only 52 games in the 2022 season and did not appear in 2021 as he recovered from a torn ACL.
