According to the National Weather Service, several cities in Alabama experienced record temperatures again on Saturday.

Temperatures in the southern half of the state were still very warm Saturday, leading to several record drops.

Mobile recorded one of the oldest records today. The National Weather Service in Mobile said Mobile reached 90 degrees this afternoon, breaking the old record of 87 degrees set in 1936.

Huntsville reached 86 degrees, tying the Oct. 26 record that had stood even longer – since 1927.

Other areas of the state experienced warm temperatures, several degrees below record levels.

Further high temperatures from Saturday:

* Anniston: 86 degrees (record was 88 in 1963)

* Birmingham: 86 degrees (record was 88 in 1963)

* Dothan: 89 degrees (record was 90 in 2010)

* Montgomery: 88 degrees (record was 90 in 2010)

* Muscle Shoals: 81 degrees (record was 89 in 1931)

* Tuscaloosa: 87 degrees (record was 89 in 2010)

Slightly lower temperatures are expected in northern Alabama on Sunday following the passage of a cold front. The chance of a shower or two is also slim in this region, although most will remain on the dry side.

According to the weather service forecast, higher mid to upper 80s will be possible for portions of south and south-central Alabama on Sunday (see map at top of this post).
