Chargers vs. Cardinals spreads out

The spread started with the Cardinals as one-point away favorites, but has since shifted toward the Chargers. LA has a 3-2 record against the spread while Arizona is 3-3.

Although the Cardinals pulled off an impressive road win against San Francisco, an upset doesn't appear to be in sight on Monday night.

Los Angeles has a stifling defense that ranks third in defensive EPA/Play and defensive DVOA, sixth in opponent yards per game, and first in opponent points per game.

Meanwhile, Arizona's defense wasn't much better than last season. She earned the third-worst grade for overall defense from Pro Football Focus and ranked 31st in opponent rushing yards per game (182.7) over the past three weeks.

The run-heavy Chargers know their strengths and weaknesses on offense, as the passing game has been questionable, but their running backs have been great on the ground and the O-line has dominated the trenches.

Don't expect Los Angeles to save Arizona with a ton of passing plays; The Chargers will keep pounding the ball until the Cardinals defense collapses.

Selection: Chargers -1.5 (-108, Fanatics)

Chargers vs. Cardinals total points

The Chargers have only exceeded the point total in one of their five games, while the Cardinals have an overtime record of 3-2-1.

Los Angeles' defense was sensational under Jim Harbaugh, holding opponents to just 13.2 points per game, the lowest number in the NFL. The Chargers have held all five of their opponents to 20 points or fewer this season.

Betting on the NFL?

None of their games came even close to that 44.5 point mark, and we don't expect Arizona's offense to have much success against the Chargers' top defense.

The Cardinals have scored 14 points or fewer in three of their last four games, excluding the shocking road win against the Niners.

Selection: Under 44 points (-108, ESPN BET)
