Los Angeles Dodgers fans are certainly still holding their breath after Shohei Ohtani suffered a subluxation of his left shoulder in Game 2 of the World Series on Saturday, but there was reason for optimism after the team's win.

ESPN's Alden Gonzalez reported that Ohtani left Dodger Stadium after the win over the New York Yankees without wearing a sleeve on his shoulder.

Manager Dave Roberts also said the team was “encouraged” and added: “I expect him to be involved. I expect him to be in the lineup.”

Ohtani suffered the injury in the seventh inning when he was tagged out at second base during a steal attempt. He immediately grabbed his arm and eventually left the game and went into the clubhouse.

Los Angeles still managed to hold on for a 4-2 victory and secure a 2-0 series lead, but things shift to New York starting Monday for Games 3, 4 and, if necessary, 5 York.

Whether Ohtani is available or not will make a significant difference as the series continues, and Roberts said the results of initial strength and range of motion tests have been positive, although he will undergo an MRI that will provide more clarity on Sunday .

Ohtani is on pace for the third MVP of his career, slashing .310/.390/.646 with 54 home runs, 130 RBI and 59 stolen bases in his first season with the Dodgers. Even though he didn't pitch that season, he still made an incredible impact on the club and helped lead them to the World Series.

Los Angeles is now just two wins away from the title and will certainly be hoping its superstar will be there for Game 3 on Monday as the team looks to take full control of the series.
