Dallas Cowboys (3-3) head coach Mike McCarthy left the door open for the running back Dalvin Cook make his team debut in Sunday's Week 8 road contest against the San Francisco 49ers (3-4).

“I think the biggest thing for us is that we take the whole week. “Dalvin is ready,” McCarthy said of Jon Machota The athlete. “I really like the work he does. … I think he’s definitely capable of playing.”

Cook hinted that he would make his Cowboys debut against San Francisco while speaking with Clarence Hill DLLS Sports.

“I’ll let you tell me, but I think this is the week,” Cook said.

Cook, 29, signed with the Cowboys in late August, less than two weeks before the regular season opener. Since then he has been part of the practice squad that Dallas has chosen Rico Dowdle, Ezekiel Elliott And Deuce Vaughn in his backfield rotation.

The Cowboys' offense has declined in all areas this season, but especially on the ground. Dallas hurried NFL– Low 463 yards, an average of 77.2 per game. Dowdle saw the lion's share of the runs, running for 246 yards at 4.2 yards per carry. The Cowboys have only two rushing touchdowns this season, one from Elliott and one from the quarterback Dak Prescott. Dallas is the only team without a rush of 20 or more yards.

A four-time Pro Bowler, Cook ran for more than 1,000 yards in every season from 2019-22, but had his toughest season yet in 2023. After being released by the Minnesota Vikings (5-2), Cook signed a one-year contract with the New York Jets (2-5). New York's offense struggled overall, with Cook averaging a career low of 214 yards and 3.2 yards per carry in 15 games.

The two teams mutually agreed to part ways after the regular season, and Cook signed with the Baltimore Ravens (5-2) for the playoffs. In Baltimore's 34-10 divisional round win over the Houston Texans (5-2), Cook rushed for 23 yards on eight carries.
