Mike Holmgren advances in the selection process for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025

GREEN BAY – On Thursday, the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced that former Packers head coach Mike Holmgren has entered the next phase of the selection process for the Class of 2025.

One coach will be selected as a finalist for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2025.

The Hall's nine-member Coach Blue Ribbon Committee narrowed its original list of 14 nominees to Holmgren, Bill Arnsparger, Tom Coughlin, Jeff Fisher, Alex Gibbs, Mike Holmgren, Chuck Knox, Richie Petitbon, Dan Reeves, Marty Schottenheimer, George Seifert, Mike Shanahan and Clark Shaughnessy.

Each Blue Ribbon Committee member will cast an additional vote later this month to whittle the list down to nine semifinalists. The results will be announced in about two weeks.

Holmgren served as the Packers' head coach from 1992 to 1998 before leading the Green Bay Packers from 1992 to 1998 and the Seattle Seahawks from 1999 to 2008. He won Super Bowl XXXI with the Packers and appeared in another as Seattle's head coach.

During Holmgren's seven years in Green Bay, he led the Packers to their first Super Bowl title in 29 years; posted a .670 winning percentage in the regular season, a number bettered only by Vince Lombardi; and finished over .500 every year, something the Packers had only done four times in the last 24 years.
