Mike Francesa can't believe how little influence sports franchises have over their young players.

Star rookie Giants wideout Malik Nabers, who is expected to miss his second straight game with a concussion, was spotted at a Travis Scott concert this week.

Speaking on his BetRivers podcast before Nabers was officially ruled out for Sunday night's game against the Bengals, Francesa was amazed at how Nabers could go to a loud, bright event when the Giants needed him back on the field.

“This is what I don't understand – and it just shows how bad teams are at dealing with their young stars now. He has a concussion. He has already missed a game. He failed the basic steps of concussion protocol. What is he doing outside at a concert?” Francesa asked.

“I don’t know what concert he was at. If you had mentioned the people, I probably would never have heard of them. That's okay. That's not the point. The point is this: at a concert you know two things. It's loud and there are lots of bright lights. Neither is good for healing a concussion.”

Francesa remained amazed that NFL teams couldn't stop Nabers from attending the event.

“They’re trying to make this guy available so he can win football games. He has already proven that he is worthy of being drafted and that he is on the path to stardom. We all agree on that. But it just shows how bad these teams have become at managing their players' behavior. This guy is hurt! What is he doing at a concert?” Francesa asked.

“You can say, 'His time is his.' His time doesn't belong to him if he has a concussion! What is he doing outside?”

Giants head coach Brian Daboll addressed the matter with reporters on Friday, saying it was being handled “internally.”

On his podcast, Francesa acknowledged that there was no evidence that Nabers was partying or “drinking,” but reiterated that he should not have been at a concert.

“It just shows you again and again that they can’t control these young players and get them to commit to the game. He should rest!” said Francesa.

“I don’t care what he normally does with his time. That's his business. I hope he's smart about it. But it is simply irresponsible and stupid for him to be at a concert. It makes no sense.”
