The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders are still alive for a bowl game after a 14-5 midweek win over Kennesaw State in their last outing, but they still need a lot of help. That ugly win over the Owls last week ended a five-game losing streak, and the win was just the second of the season in seven attempts. Middle Tennessee has losses to Ole Miss, Western Kentucky, Duke and Memphis, so that's a pretty ambitious schedule for a team this size. The Blue Raiders are actually a pretty good passing team, averaging 257.3 yards per game; This will help them hang around a bit. The defense is pretty bad, but again, the Blue Raiders have played some higher ranked teams this season.

Head coach Rich Rodriguez's Jacksonville State Gamecocks started 0-3, including losses of 28 or more points to Coastal Carolina and Louisville. However, they have rattled off three straight wins and covers against Southern Miss, Kennesaw State and New Mexico State. However, they have scored 44 or more points in each of the wins, albeit against three teams with an overall record of 3-17. Still, Jax State's offense is strong and Middle Tennessee has allowed 45 or more points on four occasions. The Gamecocks should be able to score plenty of points at home, so all we need is MTSU to get to double digits to likely get this point over the finish line.
