Melania's appearances during the 2024 campaign

The former first lady's election came after she largely stayed out of the public eye during her husband's 2024 presidential campaign. This is in contrast to the 2016 and 2020 elections, when she made several public appearances alongside her husband.

Melania Trump has missed several major events, including Trump's victory party in the Super Tuesday primaries, and she has not been in the courtroom during his legal cases, such as his hush money trial in New York.

However, she has increased her appearances in recent weeks.

In late October, the former first lady made a rare appearance at a Trump rally at Madison Square Garden, where she was introduced by SpaceX founder Elon Musk, one of Donald Trump's biggest supporters.

During the rally, Melania Trump walked out and waved to the music of Guns N' Roses' “Paradise City,” even though the band's singer Axl Rose has been a vocal critic of the Republican candidate. It was the first time she made an official campaign stop since her appearance at the Republican National Convention this summer.

However, she has been involved in private events, such as hosting a fundraiser for the Log Cabin Republicans at Trump Tower in New York City and another fundraiser with her husband at investor John Paulson's home.

What happened after the Trump vote?

After casting his vote Tuesday, the former president was asked twice about a proposed measure in Florida. If passed, the measure would prevent lawmakers from passing laws that penalize, ban, delay or restrict abortions until a fetus is viable – a stage that medical experts estimate occurs at about 21 weeks.

If the measure is defeated, Florida's restrictive six-week abortion law will remain in effect.

When Trump was first asked about the measure, he dodged the question and instead said that he had “done a great job bringing it back to the states.” The comment appeared to refer to his role in appointing three conservative justices to the U.S. Supreme Court, which helped overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade decision in 2022.

When pressed about it a second time, Trump responded sharply, telling a reporter, “You should stop talking about it.”
