The murder trial of Maxwell Anderson, who is accused of brutally killing and dismembering a Milwaukee college student, remains headed for a Dec. 9 trial date, said a prosecutor who plans to select a larger-than-normal group of jurors for the high-profile case check .

Anderson, 33, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree intentional murder, mutilation of a corpse and arson of property other than a building in connection with the killing of 19-year-old Sade Robinson.

Assistant District Attorney Ian Vance-Curzan said at a final preliminary hearing Wednesday that he plans to submit about 500 exhibits and exhibits as part of his case against the Milwaukee man who is on trial. He said he has not made any offers to Anderson and expects the process to take one to two weeks.

Vance-Curzan and Anderson's defense attorney, Anthony D. Cotton, agreed to work together to create questionnaires to be used to screen potential jurors.

District Court Judge Laura Crivello said a pool of up to 80 jurors would be reviewed. Typically, juries of 30 to 40 people are called before being whittled down to a final jury of 12 to 14 jurors.

Attorneys are expected to return to court on Nov. 22 for a jury status hearing to hammer out final details before jury selection.

“There are other trials ongoing at this time… but this is a priority case,” the judge said.

Members of Robinson's family, including her mother, Sheena Scarbrough, were in the courtroom for the brief hearing.

Police and prosecutors believe Anderson killed Robinson at his home after the two met for a first date on April 1.

Body parts believed to be Robinson's were later discovered at various locations in Milwaukee County after she was reported missing on April 2. An arm believed to be Robinson's body was also found on a beach in Waukegan, Illinois.

Anderson was formally charged April 12 in connection with Robinson's death.

Robinson's burned-out Honda Civic was found April 2 near West Lisbon Avenue and North 29th Street in Milwaukee.
