Lt. Gov. Responds to Social Rumors of Election Change at Tarrant Co. – NBC Los Angeles

Texas' Republican lieutenant governor is responding to false claims that voting machines in Tarrant County would alter the selection of voters that were shared on social media by presidential candidate Donald Trump's campaign.

Lara Trump, Donald Trump's daughter-in-law and co-chair of the Republican National Committee, recently shared a post on social media that voters in Tarrant County are reporting voting machines are flipping their vote from Trump to Kamala Harris.

“I just spoke to Lt. Gov @DanPatrick talked about voting in Tarrant County, TX. They investigated and the error was corrected with the voting machines,” she wrote on the final day of early voting in Texas.

Gov. Dan Patrick responded on social media, saying he had spoken to Lara Trump about these social media stories, saying, “After investigating these few cases, there were actually no errors to correct.” In Tarrant County, we have only had one person say their vote was corrupted out of 591,885 votes cast so far.”

As NBC 5 reported on Oct. 22, Tarrant County officials said there was no evidence to support a voter's claim that their choice was switched and that election staff invalidated the original ballot than the one on the printed ballot The voter was found to have made an incorrect choice and the voter voted again, checked his selection and then his ballot was cast.

Patrick's post then shared the state's data. “To date, there have been fewer than 10 allegations of vote fraud in nearly 7 million votes cast across the state. There has been NOT A SINGLE confirmation that it actually happened.”

County officials encourage all voters to “confirm their selections on the physical ballot before placing it in the scanner for counting.”

More than half of Tarrant County's 1.3 million registered voters voted early, an average of 53,000 people per day during the 12-day early voting period.

Tuesday, November 5th is Election Day. On this day, polls in Texas will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can vote if you stand in line by 7 p.m. on election day.
