Live updates with bad blood in NLDS Game 3

The National League Division Series heads south to San Diego after the Padres and Dodgers split the first two games in Los Angeles.

The Dodgers won Game 1 on Saturday, but the Padres bounced back with a commanding victory on Sunday that included some ugly scenes with fans in Los Angeles throwing things onto the field.

“If I were the baseball commissioner, I wouldn't even allow them to play Game 5,” Padres reliever Jeremiah Estrada told reporters Monday, describing the beer cans, bottles and baseballs thrown onto the field and in the bullpen. I mean, why? Why would you test that again?”

Walker Buehler takes over as the starting reliever for the Dodgers' Game 3 on Tuesday night, while Michael King takes over the win for the Padres. King pitched seven scoreless innings with 12 strikeouts in the first game of San Diego's wild-card series against Atlanta.

Follow us for live updates on Tuesday:

Who else? Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a two-run home run to left field in the bottom of the second, capping a nightmarish inning for the Dodgers and starter Walker Buehler.

It's Tatis Jr.'s fourth home run in five games this postseason.

Walker Buehler's second inning turned into a disaster after a leadoff single, as two fielder's picks and an error by Freddie Freeman allowed the Padres to tie the game. With runners on first and third, David Peralta laced a two-RBI double past Freeman down the right field line to make it 3-1.

Another single moved Peralta to third, setting up Kyle Higashioka's sacrifice fly to score the Padres' fourth run, thankfully the first of the inning.

Mookie Betts got the party started in Game 3 with a solo home run off Padres starter Michael King in the top of the first inning – just off the glove of Padres left fielder Jurickson Profar.

Betts was in a postseason slump, batting .068 (3 for 44) in his last 12 playoff games dating back to the 2021 NLCS.

It was almost a carbon copy of a much-discussed play from Game 2, but Profar jumped into the stands to rob Betts of a home run and took time to celebrate in front of the fans.

When is Dodgers vs. Padres?

First pitch at Petco Park is scheduled for Tuesday at 9:08 p.m. ET.
