Lions vs. Cowboys first half live chat, open thread

The Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys face each other for the third time in three seasons. The previous two went the way of the Cowboys – the last one, in fact six Dallas won in these games – but after five weeks the Lions seem to be the stronger team.

Detroit has a strong running game and excellent play-action. Defensively, they remain strong on the run and have seen some improvements in the secondary.

The Cowboys, on the other hand, have really struggled to run the ball and stop the run – although both units have had some success over the last two weeks. Dak Prescott remains a serious threat, especially when it comes to All-Pro receiver CeeDee Lamb.

This is the part of the article where I have to mention how the last match ended. Taylor Decker, Dan Skipper, reporting, blah, blah, blah. It's a new year, a new team and a new opportunity for the Lions to get rid of that damn Cowboys monkey.

So be there for the first half of the game. Just scroll down to the comments section and chat in the first two quarters. Check back on our homepage at halftime and look for the second half open thread to continue the conversation.

See you at kickoff – 4:25 p.m. ET.
