Lions quarterback Jared Goff makes history with another perfect first half

Minneapolis — Jared Goff just can’t help himself.

Against the NFL's best defense, the Detroit Lions quarterback caught another perfect half-pass against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, starting the game 12-for-12 for 156 yards and a touchdown to Amon-Ra St. Brown.

It's the third time this season he's gone 12-for-12 in the first half. He continued to do so in Weeks 3 and 4, going a perfect 18-for-18 in last week's Monday Night Football win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Only 16 times since 1991 has a quarterback gone 12 of 12 or better in the first half. First-ballot Hall of Famer Peyton Manning is the only other player to do this twice in that span, which puts into perspective the fact that Goff has done it three times in his last four games – and the Not including last week's dominant win over the Dallas Cowboys, in which Goff finished the game 18 for 25 for 315 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

In his final 10 quarters, Goff posted a 48-for-55 (87.3%) passing percentage for 763 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions.

If Goff can finish the game with a passer rating above 150 – it was 153.8 in the first half – he will become the first quarterback in history to achieve a passer rating above 150 in three consecutive games.
