Liam Payne's ex-fiancée Maya Henry has broken her silence following the singer's sudden death.

According to TMZ, the 31-year-old One Direction star allegedly fell from the third floor of a hotel in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires.

When contacted by DailyMail.com, her representative said: “She is obviously in shock at the moment.”

Emergency services are believed to be present outside the hotel, where a red tent has been set up at the scene of the accident.

Multiple witnesses told the publication that Payne fell from his room at the CasaSur Palmero Hotel shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The investigation into the 31-year-old's death is ongoing.

Alberto Crescenti, spokesman for the city's emergency services, said he fell about 40 meters and suffered “serious injuries incompatible with life.”

He said: “The alarm was raised at 5.04pm local time and said there was a person lying in a courtyard of Casa Sur.”

“At 5.11pm an ambulance arrived and the man was pronounced dead.

“Afterwards we found out he had been a famous singer. Unfortunately, the injuries he sustained from the fall proved fatal. There was no way to revive him.'
