    Distinguished history professor at the American University in Washington, DC, Allan Lichtman, has correctly predicted nine of the last ten US presidential elections. Lichtman earned his doctorate from Harvard, specializing in modern American history and quantitative methods.

    This year, Lichtman predicted that Vice President Kamala Harris would win the 2024 US presidential election. “I've been doing this for 42 years and every four years I get butterflies in my stomach,” he told USA Today. “I think I have a flock of crows in my stomach this year.”

    At no time in the country's history have election workers completed counting ballots on Election Day. This year, local and state certification deadlines range from two days to more than a month after November 5th.
