Liberal late-night hosts either downplayed or avoided President Biden's controversial “garbage” remark about Trump supporters after they panned the controversial Puerto Rico joke made at former President Trump's rally at Madison Square Garden made headlines.

On Monday, “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert praised the “massive impact” of insult comedian Tony Hinchliffe's joke that called Puerto Rico a “floating island of trash,” pointing to the “470,000” Puerto Rican voters who live in Pennsylvania.

“And you’re not going to win over half a million people by insulting their homeland,” Colbert exclaimed.

On Tuesday night, Colbert bragged about the fallout from the joke by reading several negative headlines that impacted the Trump campaign.

“Here's a little pro tip: If you're running for president, try not to surprise yourself in October,” Colbert quipped. “It’s rare to tell a joke so bad that it changes the course of human history.”

Colbert continued to criticize Trump for not taking any responsibility for Hinchcliffe's joke.

The “Jimmy Kimmel Live” host went on to say he doesn't blame the Trump campaign for “getting involved in this garbage thing,” acknowledging that it was “not a wise decision to say that.”

“Joe Biden should get out of this race immediately,” Kimmel joked, before poking fun at Trump’s garbage truck campaign stunt.

Notably, both Colbert and Kimmel held mega fundraisers for Biden before he dropped out of the 2024 race.

Meanwhile, “Late Night” host Seth Meyers, after blasting Trump over the Puerto Rico mistake on Monday, took a quick dig at Biden on Wednesday night but spent more time taking issue with Trump's attempts to distance himself from the joke analyze.

“Today I called the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico expressed by Trump's supporters at his Madison Square Garden rally as trash – that's the only word I can think of to describe it,” Biden wrote on X. ” His demonization of Latinos is.” That's all I wanted to say.
