Lady Gaga’s new “Disease” single: stream now

Seven years after releasing “The Cure,” Lady Gaga finally diagnoses the “disease.”

After a few secret teases via a Spotify playlist and a few custom websites, Gaga finally confirmed the single's release date via Instagram on Monday (October 21). In the post, the Grammy and Oscar winner shared the single's cover art, which features her posing face down on the hood of a white car with the song's title written upside down in road paint. The following day (October 22), she shared a short teaser of what appeared to be the song's official music video, set to haunting piano keys. “I could play doctor/I can cure your illness/If you were a sinner/I could make you believe,” she sings in the chorus of the lead single from her eighth solo studio album.

Gaga has been very active musically in 2024. In August, she teamed up with Bruno Mars for the stirring ballad “Die With A Smile”, which reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent eight weeks at the top of the Billboard Global 200. The following month the pop icon was launched harlequinan accompanying soundtrack album for Joker: Folie à Deuxin which she plays the role of Harley Quinn alongside Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix. Featuring Gaga's versions of a number of jazz and musical theater standards, including “That's Entertainment” and “Oh, When the Saints.” harlequin debuted atop the Jazz Albums chart, becoming Gaga's third No. 1 entry on the chart. harlequin also includes an original cut: the BloodPop-produced “Happy Mistake.”

It's been four years since Gaga debuted her at the top of the Billboard 200 Chromaticaher final solo studio album, which features the Grammy-winning Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper “Rain On Me” (featuring Ariana Grande). Mother Monster has six Billboard 200 No. 1 albums and five Hot 100 No. 1 singles, including 2009's “Poker Face” (one week), “Born This Way” in 2009 2011 (six weeks) and the Bradley Cooper-assisted “Shallow” from 2018 (one week).
