Kirby Smart and Billy Napier react to news that Florida-Georgia game will be moved to Atlanta, Tampa in 2026, 2027

The FloridaGeorgia Rivalry — best known as “The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” — will take the show on the road starting in 2026 after years of playing at a neutral location in Jacksonville. according to a report from The Action Network. And it's a step that both head coaches were looking forward to.

The first location outside of Jacksonville will be Atlanta in 2026, allowing the Bulldogs to have a game closer to campus. In 2027, the roles will be reversed as Georgia travels near the Florida campus to play in Tampa.

“This has been talked about and debated for a long time, ever since we knew the renovation was going to happen in Jacksonville, and I think the parties involved have done a great job in getting it done, and I think Jacksonville has done a great job in making it happen. “And it's worth it for both universities, and I'm excited about the opportunity to play at two different places,” Smart said on the SEC coaches conference call Wednesday. “This will be unique and perhaps we will learn from both of these experiences.”

The game was expected to be moved out of Jacksonville for some time in the coming years as EverBank Stadium – home of the Jacksonville Jaguars – undergoes renovations.

And along with Smart Gators trainer Billy Napier was excited about the opportunity to explore new places.

He also acknowledged that bringing the game large amounts of revenue is an important source of annual revenue for both schools.

“We are excited about the opportunity to play in both Atlanta and Tampa,” Napier said on the conference call. “Both great venues, both will be well-run operations. I think we all understand the revenue this game generates for both athletic departments. You know, I think it’s going to be unique and we’re definitely excited about this opportunity.”

The game is reportedly set to return to Jacksonville in 2028.
