Kansas State Football vs. West Virginia: Live Score Updates

play

The Kansas State football team has a chance to build on last week's road success and compete with Big 12 leaders Brigham Young, Iowa State and Texas Tech with a trip to the Eastern Time Zone on Saturday.

The 17th-ranked Wildcats (5-1, 2-1 Big 12) travel to Morgantown to face West Virginia (3-3, 2-1) in a nationally televised night game at Milan Puskar Stadium after they won late against Colorado last week, 31-28.

Should they prevail against West Virginia, which suffered its first conference loss last week at home to Iowa (28-16), it would give the Wildcats back-to-back road wins for the first time since 2022.

K-State running back DJ Giddens leads the Big 12 in rushing with 786 yards, while West Virginia split its yards among three backs – running back Jahiem White (398), quarterback Garrett Greene (382) and running back CJ Donaldson (378). Wildcat quarterback Avery Johnson has completed 61.7% of his passes for 1,103 yards and 11 touchdowns, while Greene has thrown 1,267 and eight scores with 57.3% accuracy.

West Virginia answered Kansas State's field goal with one of its own when Michael Hayes blasted one through from 44 yards – the same distance as the Wildcats – to tie the game 3-3 with 52 seconds left in the first quarter.

The scoring drive was six plays, 49 yards, 2:11.

K-State's drive stalled at West Virginia's 26-yard line, but Chris Tennant managed to sneak his 44-yard field goal attempt into the right upright and give the Wildcats the advantage with 3:03 left in the period to give us a 3-0 lead in the first quarter.

The Wildcats' drive, following an interception by Jack Fabris, covered 37 yards in 10 plays and lasted 5:16 minutes.

Kansas State gets the ball back when Garrett Greene's pass from Traylon Ray ends up in the hands of Wildcat safety Jack Fabris.

The Wildcats took over at their 37-yard line with 8:19 left in the first quarter.

Kansas State's defense holds up early in the game, but the Wildcats come up a yard short on their first possession and are forced to punt.

West Virginia wins the coin toss and gets the ball early in the game, meaning K-State gets it early in the second half.

The weather shouldn't be a problem this evening, with a game time temperature of 63 degrees with clear skies and no wind. The temperature should drop to around 50°C by the end of the game.

According to a report from the Kansas State Radio Network, K-State starting right offensive tackle Carver Willis did not make the trip to Morgantown and will not play tonight. Junior Andrew Länging, who plays primarily as a backup right and left defender, is likely to take Willis' place, and sophomore John Pastore is also expected to play.

Tight end Brayden Loftin still hasn't recovered from a leg injury that sidelined him the last two games.
