Vice President Kamala Harris repeatedly dodged several questions about her administration's immigration record during an interview with Fox News' Bret Baier, instead turning to former President Trump.

Baier began Wednesday's interview by asking Harris how many illegal immigrants have been released into the country by the Biden administration.

“Well, I’m glad you brought up the issue of immigration because I agree with you,” Harris replied. It's a topic of discussion that people rightly want to have. And you know what I'm going to talk about-“

“But only a number,” urged Baier. “Do you think there are 1 million?” 3 million?”

“Bret, let's just get down to business, okay?” Harris said. “The point is that we have a broken immigration system that needs to be fixed.”

After citing that DHS estimated that 6 million illegal immigrants had been released into the country, Baier pressed them on the Biden administration's decision to reverse Trump-era policies like “Remain in Mexico.” and how this decision relates to the release of violent offenders.

“Looking back, do you regret the decision to cancel Remain in Mexico at the beginning of your term in office?” asked Baier.

Harris responded by highlighting the Biden administration's first legislative push, immigration reform, and accused Trump of killing a bipartisan immigration bill.

The “Special Report” host then turned to the high-profile murders of Jocelyn Nungaray, Rachel Morin and Lake Riley, all victims of violent illegal immigrants who entered the country during the Biden administration.

“This is a concrete political decision by your government to release these men into the country,” said Baier. “So what I’m saying to you is: Do you owe these families an apology?”

“Let me just say: First of all, these are tragic cases. There is no doubt about that. There’s no doubt about it,” Harris said. “And I cannot imagine the pain that the families of these victims have suffered over a loss that should not have happened. So that's true. It's also true that (the border security law) would have actually been passed nine months ago.” Then in nine months we would have had more border guards at the border and more support for the people working around the clock to keep everything together, to ensure no harm occurs in the future.”

“Madam Vice President, it was a political decision at the beginning of your term,” Baier pressed later, before turning to testimony from Jocelyn Nungaray’s mother, who said the Biden-Harris administration was responsible for her daughter’s murder.

“So do you owe them an apology?” Baier asked again.

“I will tell you that I am so sorry for your loss. I'm so sorry for your loss. Best regards. But let’s talk about what’s happening right now to a person who doesn’t want to participate in solutions,” Harris responded . “Let’s talk about that too. To be fair, I told you I feel terrible about what she and her family went through.”

“They have repeatedly said that the border is secure. When do you think a crisis started to develop?” Baier then asked.

“By the way, we’ve had a broken immigration system before, going back beyond Donald Trump’s administration. Let’s all be honest,” Harris said. “I’m not proud to say this is a perfect immigration system. I made myself clear. I think we all know it needs to be fixed. We need more – I was just down at the border talking to border officials…us.” We need more judges. We need support for cases that should be prosecuted, and Congress is ultimately the only place where that can work.”

When Baier asked Harris if she still supported Taxpayer-funded transgender surgeries For illegal immigrants in custody, Harris turned to Trump.

“I will follow a law. A law that Donald Trump actually followed. You probably know by now that it's a public report that under the Donald Trump administration, these surgeries were available to people in the U.S. if they were medically necessary.” “And I think, frankly, these advertisements from the Trump administration “Campaigning is a bit like throwing stones when you live in a glass house,” she replied.
