Sometimes even a seasoned host like Joy Behar stirs things a little too hard.

In the Wednesday, October 30th episode The viewallowed the 82-year-old comedian to reveal a part of his personal story about co-host Sara Haines that not even Haines' parents, who were in the audience, wanted to hear.

When Whoopi Goldberg introduced Sara's parents, special guests Sandy and Dick Haines, to the studio, Behar didn't let on. “Are you going to bring up the lesbian relationship you supposedly had or not?” she blurted out, adding, “Back at Smith (College)!” The camera quickly panned to the 47-year-old journalist's parents and captured their anything but amused expressions.

In a mix of laughter and embarrassment, Sara — who graduated from Smith University in 2002 — responded with a short sentence: “Dad, earmuffs! Earmuffs!” The rest of the co-hosts, including Alyssa Farah Griffin and Sunny Hostin, seemed equally surprised. Griffin, 35, remarked, “That was off-air, that's what she told us,” to which Hostin, 56, pointed out, “Now it's on the air.”

Sara then joked, “It's a good thing my dad isn't always watching,” to which Whoopi, 68, replied, “Now he will.”

Shortly after it aired, it didn't take long for fans to voice their opinions.

“Hey, Joy… There are good people out here who don't talk about other people's sex lives for the sake of sport and personal gain. You are trash. Full of trash,” one person posted on X (formerly Twitter).

“You are shameless @joybehar for your comments in front of @sarahaines parents. She also has three children. I used to think you were funny. Not anymore,” another user remarked.

A third person described the star as “two-faced.”

Sara married lawyer Max Shifrin in 2014 and has since given birth to three children: Alec (8), Sandra (6) and Caleb (5).
