Jelly Roll gives something back to its fans.

In a social media post shared Tuesday on the restaurant is offering free food that day.

“Free food for everyone in downtown Little Rock,” he captioned the video.

The “Need a Favour” singer began the video by recalling the early days of his career when he came to Little Rock to play gigs at small venues, namely the Stickyz Rock 'n' Roll Chicken Shack, and said he was “so proud” that the 200-person venue sold out.

“The next time I came, I played a place right behind me called the Rev Room. Right next to it is a place called Gus's Chicken. We ate Gus's Chicken every time we played at the Rev Room. I have played this place ten times. If you come to Gus's Chicken in Little Rock, Arkansas today, the food is on me, baby.

Reflecting on how far he had come, Jelly Roll told his followers that he had decided to provide free meals to the Little Rock community to “recognize our sold-out show at the 18,000-seat Simmons Bank Arena.” offers.

Later in the video, he encouraged all artists early in their careers to keep going, citing himself as an example of someone who has managed to overcome this stage in their career.

“So all the artists that play Stickyz and play in the Rev Room, I’ve played Stickyz 10 times,” he said. “I played the Rev Room 20 times. Keep playing, baby. Keep playing, baby!”

Jelly Roll has been open about his past struggles in previous interviews, recently telling Martin Short on a June 2024 episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” that he spent a lot of time writing songs as a young man in prison.

He told the actor, who hosted the talk show in Fallon's place, “I was locked up as a teenager for some terrible decisions” and fell into the vicious cycle of being in and out of prison for a decade. He told Short that the birth of his daughter made him want to change his life.

“We ate Gus's Chicken every time we played the Rev Room. I played there ten times. If you come to Gus's Chicken in Little Rock, Arkansas today, the food is on me, baby. Come get something to eat.”

“I had a daughter, and it changed my whole life, man. “It was almost like the experience on the Damascus Road when Saul turned to Paul on my behalf,” he explained. “I was locked up and they knocked on my door and told me she was born. And I just cried. It was the first time I cried and I can’t stop crying now.”

The musician began focusing on his music career in 2003 and worked steadily until his breakthrough in 2022 with his singles “Son of a Sinner” and “Need a Favour”. Since its huge success, Jelly Roll has won three CMT Awards, a CMA Award, a People's Choice Award, and been nominated for two Grammy Awards.
