Jeff McNeil He is not expected to start Game 3 of the NLCS when the Mets take on the Dodgers at Citi Field, SNY's Andy Martino reports.

Martino noted that there was some speculation as to whether Game 3 would be the night the Mets tried to integrate McNeil into the lineup.

With second baseman Jose Iglesias After struggling mightily this postseason, McNeil gave the right-hander a chance Walker Buhler would have made sense.

Buehler allowed an .890 OPS against left-handed hitters against him during the regular season.

Yoshinobu Yamamotowho is expected to start in Game 4, has actually had reverse splits this season. He kept lefties at bay with a .193/.258/.267 triple slash while righties hit .263/.291/.453 against him.

McNeil, who was named to the NLCS roster after being sidelined since Sept. 6 with a broken wrist, had an injury prior to his injury.

From July 23 to September 6 – a span of 136 plate appearances in 37 games – McNeil hit .285/.382/.491 (.874 OPS) with 12 doubles, four home runs, 14 RBI and 19 runs scored.

As for Iglesias, he didn't perform well in the playoffs. And as his problems increased, Iglesias' hitting techniques became less competitive and he regularly chased throws out of the zone.

In 69 plate appearances during the playoffs, Iglesias is hitting just .226/.273/.222.

He has had a strikeout 13 times, drawing only three walks and not having an extra base hit.

Iglesias' calling card isn't his strength, but he was strong in that regard during the regular season, batting .448.

As Iglesias' bat has gone cold, he has dropped from fifth to seventh in the lineup.
