7:40 a.m. PT – Jay CutlerThe drunk driving arrest began with an afternoon car accident. According to law enforcement, he allegedly rear-ended another vehicle and when officers arrived, they noticed a strong odor of alcohol. They also claim Cutler slurred his words and had bloodshot eyes.

We're told he refused to submit to a field sobriety test, but police took him to a hospital to take a blood sample. No word yet on what his BAC was. According to police, one of the two firearms in Cutler's vehicle was a loaded handgun.

Jay Cutler spent time in a Tennessee prison on Thursday after being arrested on drunk driving and weapons charges… TMZ has learned.

The former NFL star and ex-husband of Kristin Cavallari was arrested Thursday evening in the city of Franklin, Tennessee, on charges of drunk driving and three other crimes. The other offenses included failure to exercise due diligence, violations of the implied consent law and possession of a handgun while under the influence of alcohol.

Cutler was booked into the Williamson County Jail, where he posed for a scruffy mugshot – and as you can see, the guy doesn't look too happy. According to a Franklin Police Department representative, Jay posted $5,000 bail and was released later that night.

The implied breach of consent refers to the requirement for all licensed drivers to submit to a blood or breath test for alcohol or other substances. Refusing the test is a violation of the implied consent law.

The circumstances of the arrest are still a mystery, but we have contacted police for details.

As you know, Jay was married to Cavallari for almost a decade starting in 2013, but their divorce was finalized in 2022. They starred in the popular reality show “Very Cavallari,” which followed their life in Nashville with their three children – – Camden, JaxonAnd Saylor.

During his 12-year NFL career, Cutler was a quarterback for the Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins. He began his career with the Broncos in 2006 and retired from the Dolphins in 2017. In between, Cutler played for the Bears.
