    Jaguars are excited about the return of the game-changing superstar

    The Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5) welcomed back two-time Pro Bowl tight end Evan Engram over the last two weeks after he was out for over a month with a hamstring injury, and this organization couldn't be happier about it.

    The Jaguars hadn't had their best passing threat since Week 1 and finally got him back into action five weeks later, where he dominated the offense with his play and leadership.

    Jaguars offensive coordinator Press Taylor commented on what Engram meant to this offense, not only gaining yards but also gaining support and confidence from his teammates.

    “I think that’s a big part, just having Evan (Engram) there,” Taylor said. “Evan is one of our juice guys. He just brings a lot of energy to the people around him, really celebrates his teammates great, gets Brenton (TE Brenton Strange) and the guys fired up while they're playing. So that was something he brought to the sidelines, but now he sits in the huddle between drives, between series. While driving, he is one of those guys who is a little louder in a crowd. Then he is a great player.

    Engram is in his eighth season after being drafted 23rd overall in the 2017 NFL Draft by Ole Miss. He inherited the leadership role as one of the veterans on the roster and continues to lead this team by mentoring second-year tight end Brenton Strange, who is still new to the NFL.

    In his first game back from injury in Week 6, Engram caught 10 balls for 102 yards, his best receiving game since his first season with the Jaguars in 2022. The following week, he had five receptions for 35 yards, a good one Contribution to the game victory over the New England Patriots in London.

    “Being able to get him the ball on the first play, he had 100 yards — whatever he had — he had a big game the first time he got out,” Taylor said. “His catch-and-run ability is tremendous, his playmaking, just the comfort and chemistry that he and Trevor (QB Trevor Lawrence) have together is great for us on some of our third-down plays as well.”

    Lawrence and Engram have been together for the past three seasons, combining for 200 receptions, 1,858 yards and nine touchdowns during that time. One of the most consistent quarterback and tight end duos in the NFL has brought the band back together in mid-2024.

    If Engram can continue to stay healthy and effective, the Jaguars will have plenty of passing threats with wide receivers all over the field. Gabe Davis, Christian KirkAnd Brian Thomas Jr. to help. Expect more statement games and highlight plays from Engram and Lawrence as the season progresses.
