It's questionable whether Bills RB James Cook (foot/toe) will play against the Jets on Monday

His four rushing touchdowns this year doubled his career total before 2024.

Given the enormity of Monday's game against New York, which will decide who is at the top of the division a third of the way through the season, the Bills will be desperately hoping that Cook recovers enough to play over the next two days to be able to.

If not, Ray Davis and Ty Johnson should share the job of replacing Cook. Together, the two average 3.5 yards on 36 combined carries, or 117 yards. Given her skill set, Johnson would likely be the bigger threat in the backfield while Davis could handle the majority of the carries.

As the Bills look to avoid a three-game losing streak and face the top-five scoring defense in the league, it is imperative that they are able to field a strong rushing attack regardless , who competes – especially because the Jets are more vulnerable on the ground (ranking 14th in rushing yards allowed) than through the air (ranking 2nd).

Elsewhere, Khalil Shakir, the team's leading receiver, is also expected to be listed as questionable with an ankle injury. That could leave Josh Allen relying on WRs Keon Coleman, Curtis Samuel, Mack Hollins, tight end Dalton Kincaid and any backs at his disposal as he tries to break out of the slump.

Buffalo (3-2) takes on New York (2-3) on Monday at 8:15 p.m. ET.
