A 1-0 win over Arsenal at the weekend sparked positivity at St James' Park but Brown insists they need to fulfill the striker's ambitions of playing Champions League football to convince him to stay long term.

“He would be an asset to every club in Europe,“, he said Football Insider.

“I've heard rumors about a possible move to Arsenal and that wouldn't shock me.

“There are some of the top clubs keeping an eye on his situation.

“I think he's getting fed up with Newcastle and was expecting them to show a bit more ambition in the transfer window and with their results.

“He might feel like next summer is a good time for him to move on.

“That’s the way it is now, especially if they don’t qualify for the Champions League.

“They want to tie him down to a new contract but I wouldn't expect him to commit unless the club can prove they match his ambitions.

“Wayne Rooney made it at Man United. He said if they didn't buy players and show ambition he would leave.

“I expect Isak will be in the same situation if things don’t improve.”
