“I heard rumors about a move to Arsenal”

Alexander Isak could push to leave Newcastle United as concerns grow over the club's ambitions on and off the pitch.

This is according to former Man United, Sunderland and Aston Villa scout Mick Brown, who remains very well connected with the game, he said exclusively Football Insider that the striker is fed up with the perceived lack of ambition at St James' Park.

That comes after Football Insider revealed that several top Premier League and European teams are keeping a close eye on the 25-year-old.

The striker's camp have reportedly delayed talks over a new contract due to concerns over the direction the club is heading.

Brown claimed he had heard “whispers” about a possible move to Arsenal, while several top clubs are keeping an eye on the situation as it develops.

Isak's current contract at Newcastle runs until 2028, meaning the club still holds the cards over his future and is expected to demand a significant fee for his exit.

However, he is said to be looking for them to show ambition in the transfer market and push forward European football after missing out on last season.

Alexander Isak could push to leave Newcastle United

The Magpies are currently tenth in the Premier League table with four wins, three draws and three defeats from their first ten games.

A 1-0 win over Arsenal at the weekend sparked positivity at St James' Park but Brown insists they need to fulfill the striker's ambitions of playing Champions League football to convince him to stay long term.

He would be an asset to every club in Europe,“, he said Football Insider.

“I've heard rumors about a possible move to Arsenal and that wouldn't shock me.

There are some of the top clubs keeping an eye on his situation.

“I think he's getting fed up with Newcastle and was expecting them to show a bit more ambition in the transfer window and with their results.

“He might feel like next summer is a good time for him to move on.

“That’s the way it is now, especially if they don’t qualify for the Champions League.

“They want to tie him down to a new contract but I wouldn't expect him to commit unless the club can prove they match his ambitions.

“Wayne Rooney made it at Man United. He said if they didn't buy players and show ambition he would leave.

I expect Isak will be in the same situation if things don’t improve.”

In other news, following the update, Newcastle said to 'break the bank' on signing Bryan Mbeumo.
