“I have no regrets”: Ruud van Nistelrooy expresses his goal at Man Utd ahead of Chelsea game

Manchester United interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the club for the second time in the Premier League tonight against Chelsea.

Before the game against Chelsea, Van Nistelrooy expressed his desire to stay at the club even after the arrival of Ruben Amorim.

He told Sky Sports: “This was a special opportunity for me. I feel a strong desire to advance the club and share experiences from my active time.

“I enjoy it and have no regrets. I want to help and that's why I'm here. It's not about me or what role.

“It’s about doing something to move the club forward and that’s my goal.”

Van Nistelrooy helped United return to winning ways by beating Leicester City 5-2 in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

The Red Devils have only won once in the league last month (against Brentford).

They are in 13th place with just 11 points. Another defeat could further damage United's ambitions of finishing in the top four.

Van Nistelrooy joined Erik ten Hag's coaching staff in July. Ruben Amorim will begin his spell at United after the international break in November.

The Portuguese is expected to bring his own backroom team to Old Trafford.

There is great doubt about his future after the impending arrival of Amorim. The former Dutch striker wants to stay in any role and help the club progress this season.

United would not want a conflict of ideas between the two managers.

Amorim wants his team to play with a back three. Van Nistelrooy played with a back four at United and during his time at PSV.

However, having a club legend could help him connect with fans and players.
