Hurricane Kristy is expected to reach Category 5 strength in the Eastern Pacific

According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), Hurricane Kristy has quickly become a major hurricane and the storm is now expected to reach Category 5 strength as it moves further from the coast of Mexico in the eastern Pacific.

The remnants of former Tropical Storm Nadine formed in Kristy in the eastern Pacific on Monday. Since this was not Nadine's original edition, the NHC assigned the next name on the list of names to this pool.

Nadine made landfall Saturday afternoon near Belize City, Belize, with sustained winds of 60 miles per hour. After moving inland across Central America and Mexico, the storm weakened and dissipated on Sunday before its remnants appeared off the Pacific coast of southern Mexico.
