    Hugh Freeze is battling an illness and will not travel with Auburn on Friday

    Auburn football coach Hugh Freeze traveled to the Tigers' game against Kentucky on Saturday.

    Freeze reportedly did not travel to Auburn's road game against the Wildcats on Friday night, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. Citing sources, Thamel reported that Freeze was battling an illness that could possibly be food poisoning.

    However, this is not expected to impact his availability for the game, as Thamel added that he will fly to Lexington, Kentucky for the night game on Saturday morning. ESPN's Chris Low later reported that he spoke with Freeze, who said “Hell yeah” when asked if he would be available to coach against Kentucky.

    Low reported that Freeze was “struggling with severe nausea.”

    It's the latest development in a disastrous season for Auburn (2-5, 0-4 SEC), which is still winless in conference play and hasn't won since Week 3 against New Mexico. The Tigers would need wins in four of their final five games to achieve bowl eligibility.

    Freeze has an 8-12 record at Auburn since being named the Tigers' head coach prior to the 2023 season. Auburn finished its first season at the helm at 6-7 and lost to Maryland in the Music City Bowl at the end of the year.

    Freeze previously coached at Liberty (2019-22) and Ole Miss (2012-16). The 55-year-old coach has a record of 82-58.
