No, the “G” in the “OMG” remix didn’t stand for Grimace. Months after Mets star Jose Iglesias won the National League, then the American League, then the American League Taking America by Storm with its joyous acronym Bop, the player – who also happens to be a pop star and performs under the name Candelita – has hit a home run with the song's official update. Pitbull and Silvestre Dangond were released on October 11th and joined Candelita to give us another “OMG” moment before the Mets begin their NLCS matchup on Sunday. “It started as a song and became a movement and an anthem,” Iglesias says. “I'm very humbled by it.” The infielder also teased that he “definitely” wants to continue pursuing music at the end of the season, even if that doesn't necessarily mean working with the team's volunteer purple savior. “We have another great song that I’m working on as my next single,” he teases. “It’s another energetic project that I want to prepare for 2025.” Until then? LFGM!

It was only a matter of time before we got an “OMG” remix with major star power. How did Pitbull become the top dog?
Pitbull fit the song perfectly from the start. I turned to his team and said, “Listen, we have this song and I think Pit would fit in well.” We sent him the song, he listened to it, fell in love with it and literally jumped on it. Forty hours later I got the vocals and everything. It was a dream come true, I'm not going to lie. Having Pit on the track is a pretty big deal. And soon after, Silvestre came to us. It's a privilege to be on the track with such a large audience.

What made Mr. Worldwide the best fit compared to other rappers?
He is a very energetic artist. He connects with people and that's what the song and the message behind it is about. If you listen closely to the lyrics, it's about how it's always possible to fight for your dreams. In all the difficult times in life, you never give up. Especially for all these immigrants, like me coming from Cuba, crossing the border and trying to come to this great country and have the chance to become something. Pit's energy and charisma were exactly what was needed.

Pit bull explained that this remix comes from “an outsider to the outsiders of the outsiders.” What does a statement like that mean to you when you think about this Mets season?
It's an anthem. Every time we win or get a hit or a home run, that's the song we play. It is our lucky charm. Every fan sings along and connects with the mood and the light. It is shown on and off the field. What we have become as a group is one big family. After every win we meet in the clubhouse and just chat. “OMG” must be playing in the background. It is a dream for me and the organization to create a culture of success.

The Mets have gone 50-34 since playing at Citi Field in late June. How much of the team's incredible success and spirit is due to the song?
Thanks go to all players. We do a lot of hard work every day. It's teamwork. It is a combination of dedication and, above all, energy. When the energy is right, good things happen. As a group, we understand that we put in the work and take it one day at a time. But “OMG” let us loose in the clubhouse and brought us closer together. The boys laugh, dance and enjoy it.

Do you feel bad that the Yankees continue to be boring and lack players who can serve as Latin pop stars?
You know, that's their culture and philosophy. I don't feel bad about it, but I don't think they're trying to avoid it either. Over in Queens, of course, we're all about winning, and we've created a winning culture here. But we know how important it is to have that connection to the clubhouse and how important it is to have a group that is tight in terms of energy and communication. Things off the field are also very important. That comes with the field. That's my perspective. The Yankees have their philosophy and their way of thinking, and I respect that. But energy is definitely an important factor in our game.

If you have it A grimace appears How does he think his rapping skills would look on another “OMG” remix?
I didn't think about these details with Grimace. It would definitely be cool if there was something going on with him.

In your opinion, which other Met other than yourself has the most promising chances for a successful music career?
Just me! I don't think we have another musician in the clubhouse. No one comes to mind at the moment. We are a space of different talents.
